Tift Merritt

Tift Merritt released her solo debut album Bramble Rose, in 2002. Her connection to Jag Studios goes back to 1999 when she recorded with Two Dollar Pistols. Her Bramble Rose album was called by the Associated Press the best debut of the year in any genre. Her next album, Tambourine was Grammy nominated. She has gone on to release seven albums including Another Country, See You on the Moon, and Traveling Alone. Her latest album is Stitch of the World and NPR wrote “Stitch of the World contains some of her best writing”. She is a NC native and UNC graduate who had plans to be a writer until her dad taught her guitar chords and Percy Sledge songs. Her work is noted as continuing the proud tradition of the earliest female country to compose and produce their own material, Dusty Springfield and Bobbie Gentry.

She continues to tour and will be on the stage at the NC Museum of Art on April 27th. What a great opportunity to enjoy the best of NC music.
