3801 Western Blvd
This web site seeks to recapture the history and experiences of the NC music scene in the 1980 and 1990’s. One the biggest bands to come out of the south, Hootie and Blowfish, recorded their first tracks at Jag Studios and met the person who would become their future manager. It was on the forefront of the alt metal movement with Corrosion of Conformity. Many of these recordings produced by John Custer who would go on to secure a Lifetime Achievement award with the NC Music Hall of Fame.
Much has changed on Western Blvd since the days of Jag Studios with multiple food chains lining the street but the building which housed Jag Studios at 3801 Western Blvd is still delivering music today. One of the newest tenants, Kreme is a lounge with guest DJ’s spinning their playlists.
The music scene is forever changing and we will include links to the present with authors and guests who are still making the magic!
