The former Jag Studios in Raleigh, NC was the hub of the music scene in NC in the 1980's. Jag Studios was founded by Joy Cook and Bryon McCay. Dick Hodgin, music producer and owner of M-80 Management first produced Hootie and the Blowfish after his intern, Rusty Harmon convinced him he needed to hear their demo tape. Corrosion of Conformity is a Grammy nominated heavy metal band recognized as one of the top NC bands to shape American music. As observed by NC Music Hall of Fame producer, John Custer, "it (Jag Studios) was a poorly equipped, in a bad location and nothing would ever come of it." Yet multiple Grammy award winning artists produced and thrived at Jag Studios. And there are many more who recorded at Jag Studios, Tift Merritt, Dag Righteous, the playlist goes on.

This site will collect and share their stories and those of fans and producers to capture its rich history and contribution to NC music culture.
